Cyber-Monday is a busy shopping day, but it is also one of the busiest shipping days. With millions of gifts being shipped before they end up under the tree, you may want to make want to take a few precautions to make sure your gift makes it in one piece.
Fed Ex says this Cyber-Monday is the busiest shipping day in the company's history. "We are expecting to move about 22 million shipments today, which is more than double our average daily volume," says Fed Ex representative Shae Laordeanu.
Local UPS stores are also seeing a steady flow of customers. "Steady influx of shippers for the next 3 weeks," says UPS Store owner Tommy Harvey. With all the hustle and bustle, Harvey says using plenty of plastic, bubble wrap, and Styrofoam will go a long way toward protecting your packages and making sure your gifts arrive intact. "Vibrations can affect your item, and these can hold them in place and keep them from getting damaged."
It's not just about the packaging. Another way to keep you gifts safe is by keeping them secure after the delivery. You may want to require a signature for your items. This will ensure they are not left sitting on the porch. This will also help to keep a Grinch from stealing your Christmas.
