CASS COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas man was arraigned Monday morning in Cass County after police say he stabbed his wife to death, then fled the scene with his 4-year-old daughter, prompting an Amber Alert to be issued.

Brad Allen Dunn, 35, has been charged with murder and evading arrest. His bond was set at $5.1 million - $5 million for murder and $100,000 for evading arrest - by a Cass County justice of the peace.

"A good citizen responded to the Amber Alert. She was behind the vehicle at the time on US 59," said Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe. "DPS and county patrols were able to get him stopped just inside the city of Linden."

The Cass County Sheriff's Department has notified Harrison County officials to come get Dunn.

Marshall Police Public Information Officer Sonya Johnson said that a call came in to police around 11 a.m. about a dispute at a Marshall-area hotel.

Upon arrival, authorities located Kari Rene Dunn unresponsive. She was later pronounced dead at the scene. Police say that before their arrival, 35-year-old Brad Allen Dunn fled the scene with their 4-year-old child, Kylie Dunn. An Amber Alert was issued shortly thereafter. In the Amber Alert, authorities warned that they believed Kylie to be in danger.

Dunn was apprehended a short time later and Kylie was safely returned to her family.

It is not yet known how Kari Dunn died. Her body has been sent off for an autopsy while authorities are continuing to investigate this case.

Records show Dunn has multiple previous arrests out of Gregg County ranging from speeding to assault charges.
