KSLA News 12 Guest Editorial: November 28th: Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving, this holiday season, as we gather with family and count the blessings in our lives, let's think beyond our homes and loved ones and include the blessing of being part of a bigger family, that of community.

Over the years, the mission of United Way of Northwest Louisiana has continued to evolve. Instead of funding 'x' agency or 'y' agency or 'z' agency, we're really focused on solving basic problems in the areas of education, income, health and basic needs. These goals are designed to help people in our 10-parish area achieve success and have a good shot at a well-rounded, meaningful life.

You might have seen our tagline, "Live united."

It's our hope that when you realize you can be part of a solution, a specific solution, that your eyes light up, you get a smile and that by giving, whether it be of your time, talents or treasure, you feel one with your community.

That's living united.

I'm Bruce Willson, President of United Way of Northwest Louisiana.

State Police Supt. Col. Mike Edmonson needs to address this inexcusable behavior directly and restore the public's confidence. He should be fully transparent in his investigation into the matter and should invite an outside entity to look into the matter.

Be on the lookout for kids. They seem to dart out from everywhere. They are certainly not looking out for you; so please look out for them.
