LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Along with the cold weather, the holiday season is already upon us.

Local radio station, KYKZ-96, is camping out in the parking lot of Ashley Furniture on Hwy. 14 in Lake Charles Monday through Wednesday, collecting food donations for Abraham's Tent.

KPLC spoke to Chad Austin on Monday about the worthy cause.

"We camp out here for three days. I'm going to be here until Wednesday at noon. And we're taking straight food donations for the homeless at Abraham's Tent. And a lot of folks don't have a nice, warm meal to enjoy this holiday season and they live right here in our own backyard. We'd like to challenge everybody to bring at least three canned goods. If you have any kind of frozen meats, we have a refrigerated trailer. Come on by, we're going to have the campfire going in a little bit later on and my promise to Southwest Louisiana is through the rain and through the cold weather, we're going to make sure folks have a nice dinner this holiday season, through Abraham's Tent," Austin said.
