Fire damages Bossier City home, family dog killed

Fire heavily damaged a Bossier City home Sunday morning and resulted in the loss of a family pet.

The Bossier City Fire Department responded to the home in the 4800 block of Camellia Lane just before 8 a.m.

According to Bossier City Public Information Officer Mark Natale, the first crew arrived on scene within three minutes and found flames coming from the rear of the structure with heavy smoke flowing from the eaves. The fire quickly spread into the home's attic. Several items stored in the garage in the vicinity of the attic access door along with a subfloor inside the attic made it difficult for firefighters to reach the blaze.

Once they were able to access the attic, firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within a few minutes.

The home's occupant was able to escape the fire without injury. However, a pet dog died in the blaze despite firefighters' attempt to revive the animal with oxygen after recovering it from inside the house.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
