Blanchard bicyclist struck by SUV, driver cited

BLANCHARD, LA (KSLA) -

A bicyclist is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries, after he was struck by a car Friday morning in Caddo Parish.

According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, Kenneth Williams, 41, of Blanchard, was riding a bicycle at the intersection of Hwy. 1 and Dixie-Blanchard Road around 10:30 a.m. when he was struck by a Lincoln SUV. He was taken to University Health by ambulance for treatment of his injuries. Is is currently listed in critical condition.

The driver of the SUV, 73-year-old Bess Pace Meyers of Blanchard,  was issued a citation by Blanchard Police for improper lane usage.

Caddo Sheriff's Traffic Safety investigators are investigating the crash and are asking any witnesses to contact them at 675-2170.
