Crews battle fire at Shreveport Burger King

A fire at an East Bert Kouns Burger King in Shreveport early Tuesday afternoon is blamed on flames igniting a buildup of grease in the restaurant's vent stack.

Crews were called to the fast food restaurant at 1:30 p.m, after smoke was reported coming from the building.

Firefighters had to get up on the roof to fight the fire, which reportedly started in the vent stack above the boiler. They had the flames out in a matter of minutes.

Employees and customers got out of the building safely, and no one was hurt. Some crews remained on the scene once the fire was brought under control to ensure that it did not flare up again.

According to SFD Assistant Chief Fred Sanders, most of the damage was from smoke, although some was done as the firefighters worked to access the location of the flames.
