BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Big crowds gathered around the Louisiana Capitol for the annual Louisiana Book Festival.

More than 200 authors were available to discuss their work and sign copies of their books, but the longest line was for Academy Award-winning actor Louis Gossett Jr., who was there to promote a new movie.

He promoted the movie and audio book, 'Twelve Years a Slave,' a memoir based on the life of Solomon Northup.

Northup was a free man who was kidnapped and sold at the New Orleans slave market.

He lived in a house in Bunkie, LA. LSU Alexandria is in the process of turning the house into a museum.

The movie is currently playing in theaters.
