Foster grandparents are volunteer senior citizens who serve as mentors, tutors, and caregivers in local school.  They also work with children with special needs. SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

There are some special grandparents in the Shreveport-Bossier area. Friday was the 33rd annual Foster Grandparents recognition luncheon.

There was a lot of "hatitude" at the Holiday Inn Downtown-Riverfront, where the event has been held the last 10 years. The theme this year was "Hats off to Reading" Foster grandparent Volunteers "Got Hatitude"

The foster grandparents wore their finest hats and participated in a fashion show and hat contest. Hat categories included The Most Outrageous Hat, Most Beautiful Hat, The Baddest Hat, Glitz & Glamorous, and Louisiana Topper Hat.

KSLA News 12 Anchor Domonique Benn served as Mistress of Ceremony for the program for a third year.

Foster grandparents are volunteer senior citizens who serve as mentors, tutors, and caregivers in local school. They also work with children with special needs.
