Chandler man killed in 2-vehicle crash near Tolleson
TOLLESON, AZ (CBS5) -
A Chandler man is dead after being hit a car while pulling into a gas station parking lot near Tolleson.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said Mark Jones, 44, was driving east on Buckeye Road in a 2007 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup and turned left into the QT parking lot trying to beat oncoming traffic Thursday night when he was hit by a 1998 Nissan Maxima car.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
The drivers in the car was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries and is expected to be OK.
Detectives do not believe either driver was impaired, but are investigating if speed was a factor.
MCSO spokesman Lt. Brandon Jones said the driver of the car likely will not face any criminal charges.
