The Tyler Police Department is investigating two cases of assault that occurred inside Walmart on Troup Highway and Target on S. Broadway Avenue.
According to Don Martin with the Tyler Police Department, on October 22 around 6 p.m., surveillance video obtained from Walmart shows an unknown white male suspect acting suspicious and following a female through the store. The unknown suspect then grabbed the female victim's buttocks.
"I was in the baby department finding some body wash for my daughter," Jessica said. She has asked that we only identify her by her first name out of fear of the man.
Moments later he is spotted near the gardening section with his face covered by a hooded sweatshirt.
"And they said that he kept his eye on me the whole time until he did what he was able to do," she said.
What he did happened off camera, just after he follows her down a main aisle.
Jessica goes down a side aisle and a few moments later he ducks in to an aisle just a few feet away.
"So I had no idea of anything that was going on around me, and all I did was feel somebody come up behind me and grab my bottom with both hands," she said.
She turned around in time to see a man in a hooded sweatshirt run off. The video shows him run from the aisle she was in and exit the store.
"The thing that scared me the most was that he followed me through the whole store, so he stalked me and I had no idea," she said, still frightened.
He exits later, no more sweatshirt, but looking behind him all the way. Another video catches a glimpse of his matte black truck.
"I told my husband that night, I said I would not wish this upon anybody because, at night I just kept replaying it like when I was trying to go to sleep I just kept replaying the story in my head and it just troubled me so bad," her hands a bit shaky as she retells the story.
Walmart employees called police. They hope someone can identify this man after seeing him on our broadcast.
"Hopefully let him know that it won't be tolerated, and he better think twice before he does something like this again," Officer Don martin with Tyler Police said.
On October 23 around 8:40 p.m., another female reported to police that a male suspect grabbed her inappropriately while she was shopping at Target.
Investigators need your help identifying the unknown male suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000 or Crimestoppers at 903-597-CUFF (2833).
