TERRELL, TX (KTVT) - A man accused of killing five people - including burning one to death - was arrested early Tuesday morning after an hours-long search in Terrell, Texas.
36-year-old Charles Brownlow was identified by Terrell Police as a suspect in a late-night statement. Police caught Brownlow after he stole and wrecked a car, then ran into the woods.
"There have been additional deaths and police do believe they are related," said Terrell Police Captain A.D. Sansom in a statement issued before the arrest.
It all began around 5 p.m. Monday at a home in the 300 block of Stallings Street, Sansom said.
"We are on scene of an arson that has resulted in a death," Sansom said. "Separately, we are investigating another incident that does involve a death on Tyler Street in the same general area."
Police say a woman was found fatally shot Monday afternoon at a house in Terrell, about 30 miles east of Dallas. The body of another woman was found in a burning home nearby. Police say a man and a woman were found shot to death Monday night at a third residence, and a male clerk was killed at a convenience store.
Police didn't specify charges against the suspect or speculate on a motive in the killings.
None of those killed has been officially identified at this point. In addition to the Terrell Police Department, Terrell Fire Arson investigators and the Texas Rangers are all assisting with the investigations.
