SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Police have released the name of a man killed in a one vehicle crash Friday evening in West Shreveport.

Shreveport police officers were called to the 6800 block of Bert Kouns near its intersection with Greenwood Road around 6 p.m. Friday for a major crash involving one vehicle.

Officers learned that a 2000 model Chevrolet had apparently been traveling eastbound on Greenwood Road before it left the roadway for unknown reasons, rolled over, and came to rest on its roof.  The driver of the vehicle, identified as 43-year-old Michael Franklin was taken to University Health Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A passenger in the vehicle was also taken to University Health Hospital. Police are unable to confirm the extent of his injuries at this time.

Based on preliminary information and evidence gathered, crash investigators say they believe speed may have been a factor but they are still working at this hour to definitively determine exactly what caused the crash.
