SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport police are searching for a gunman after a homeless man was shot in the Highland neighborhood Thursday morning.

Police say as they were attempting to arrest a woman for warrants, she ran away. While officers chased her, they heard screams and found an injured homeless man near Stoner Avenue and Brooks Street around 4 a.m. The man was suffering from a gunshot wound to his right thigh and three wounds to his buttocks. The victim was taken to University Health with non-life threatening injuries.

After an initial investigation, police determined that the victim had been shot by another homeless man between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. The victim and the other man had argued with each other a few days earlier.

Police say at some point before 2:30 a.m., the suspect and two other men attacked the victim while he was in his sleeping bag. Two men beat the victim before he was shot by the other man.

The victim does not know the two men that beat him.

No arrests have been made.
