The Caddo Parish School Board continued to interview finalists for the superintendent position on Wednesday.

Caddo Parish superintendent finalist Terrence Brown took the podium Wednesday, to answer questions for the public. Brown was born and raised in Arkansas, but has spent over 20 years in Tennessee. He has served as a high school teacher, a principal, and previously held a regional superintendent position for Memphis Schools for 5 years. Brown says his motto on education will help him be successful in Caddo Parish. "Only the educated are free. In a country this size, in America. If you don't have a free public, an educated public, it's hard to maintain your liberty without that. I believe that only the educated are free," explained Brown.

Brown said it would be unfair to comment about ways to fix budget problems as, as he put it, someone looking in from the outside. If selected, he said he would do everything possible to reach an agreement with board members. "The best thing to bring people together is to start with common ground. You find areas where they're going to agree and you start working and building from there. When you find common ground, you start working on those areas that really make sense. Then you can build from there. That brings people together."

Only one more candidate, Timothy Magner, will be interviewed on Thursday. The board is expected to make a selection on Friday.
