If he wasn't a legend before, it's now official.

Will Jennings, an East Texas native, was inducted into The Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Sunday night. This top award for songwriters represents the "most beloved songs from the contemporary American songbook."

Some of his most popular songs include, "My Heart Will Go On," which earned Jennings an Oscar and became the most-played radio hit in history, and Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven."

You may remember that KLTV's Joan Hallmark interviewed Jennings for her Proud of East Texas series. Jennings was born in Kilgore, Texas, and attended school in Chapel Hill. He studied at Stephen F. Austin University for a time, as well.
