BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

A water line break that shut down a section of Barksdale Boulevard in Bossier City has been repaired.

City spokesperson Mark Natale says the line, located in the parking lot of Bayou Outdoor Supercenter RV store, ruptured around 1 p.m. Friday, causing the roadway in front of the business to flood.

A boil advisory was issued for the 1800 block of Barksdale Blvd., which Natale says only affects the Supercenter, but he says state regulations require all boil advisories issued to be made public.

Natale says the advisory is a precautionary measure and advises those affected to voluntarily boil their water before consuming it until the health department can test the water. The advisory pertains only to water used for consumption. "Again," Natale said in a statement released late Friday night, "the advisory is only a precautionary measure. This is a boil advisory, not a boil order. The city will notify the media when the advisory is lifted."

The break also shut down a section of Barksdale Blvd. for several hours between I20 and Old Minden Rd.
