CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

The Caddo Coroner's Office has identified the man who drowned last week in 12 Mile Bayou.

Divers recovered the body of 34-year-old Rodney Baron Robinson on Wednesday afternoon, after the pirogue he and 2 other men were fishing in began to sink. On Monday, the coroner's office confirmed his identity, using his fingerprints.

The 2 other men survived, but Robinson went under and never resurfaced.

Fire department officials said none of the men were wearing life jackets.

Wildlife and Fisheries Captain Richie McCarthy confirms unopened cans of beer were found in the kayak or "pirogue." He explained because the boat doesn't have a motor, the surviving individuals in the boat couldn't be charged with a D-U-I, had they been drinking.

According to McCarthy preliminary investigations show there was too much weight in the pirogue, forcing it to flip.

The accident remains under investigation by the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
