SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

A Shreveport couple took their love on the run.

Across the country, we've seen several interesting wedding ceremonies, but this one may be the most unique. A pair of runners decided to make a marathon out of their love, tying the knot all while running.

In the early morning hours in downtown Shreveport, two runners stretched as they prepared to race in what would be the most important marathon of their lives.

Christie Johnson and Shane Huff met while running a marathon one year ago this month, they intend to marry the same way.

"It's what we do as far as running and marathons and things." said Huff, "It is really awesome just to be able to share the passion of running with each other."

A different, but unique way to tie the knot, it's a first for Pastor Justin Haigler who was more than willing to perform the moving ceremony, but on one condition.

"As long as I'm not running I'm ok with that, says Haigler."

Family members showed their support with most of them riding along in a trailer.

At 7 am. sharp, the couple began the journey of a lifetime down Clyde Fant Parkway and back, exchanging vows and wedding rings. After a quick turn around the couple finally made it to the finish line, this time as husband and wife.

It's a race that will live on forever, etched in their memories. This time, both runners came out in first place.
