The Red River Revel opened it's gates Saturday despite the rain. Umbrellas are allowed in Festival Plaza. "We came to the revel because it is an annual tradition in our family, we come here for all the kids' activities and looking at all the good vendors and all their arts and crafts" Greg Doyle says. The process for setting up for the Red River Revel has taken 3 weeks, but Saturday they opened to gates for day 1 of festivities. "We have been putting up tents, tables, chairs, banners, you name it for the last three weeks" Kevin Stone, Executive Director of the Red River Revel, says.
The revel has been bringing millions of dollars into the Shreveport area for 38 years. "All of our research shows that 20% of the 180,000 plus people are not from the Shreveport - Bossier area. And we have an economic impact of nearly $11 million dollars annually" Stone says.
A shuttle will also be available if you're headed down to the Revel. You can catch the shuttle at these locations: city hall, the Caddo Parish Courthouse, Louisiana Tower, Swepco building, Mall Saint Vincent, Pierre Bossier Mall, and Regions Bank.
