Another Shreveport firefighter has been arrested, accused of assaulting a woman and choking her during a domestic dispute.

Shreveport police say they were called to a home in the 2000 block of Grimmett Dr. just before 4 a.m. on Saturday, where they were told by the victim that her boyfriend had shown up and that they began to argue.

Police say the man, identified as 34-year-old Devin Kennedy of the 7000 block of Fern Avenue in Shreveport, allegedly grabbed the woman around the neck and began to choke her repeatedly.

Kennedy reportedly left the home following the incident and was not there when police arrived.

Police say they gathered evidence supporting the victim's allegations. Kennedy was taken into custody at the Shreveport Police Department on Wednesday, following interviews with detectives.

Kennedy, a 13-year-veteran of the Shreveport Fire Department, is charged with 1 count of domestic abuse battery with strangulation.

It's not the first arrest in recent weeks of a Shreveport firefighter on that charge. 34-year-old Traotis Robinson was arrested and charged with the same thing on September 17. In that incident, the 7-year-veteran firefighter is accused of entering his estranged wife's home and grabbing her around the neck and strangling her. She survived her injuries.

Both Kennedy and Robinson have been placed on administrative leave by SFD Chief Craig Mulford pending internal investigations.
