CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

FOX19 called current Cincinnati City Council Member Laure Quinlivan to ask her our five questions for city council candidates. Quinlivan is one of 21 candidates vying for 9 seats on the council in November election. Her responses are below.

Tell us about yourself

Quinlivan is serving her 2ND term on Cincinnati City Council. She is a mother of two children, a 6-year-old and a college freshman at UC. She and her husband, Greg, an art teacher, live in Mt. Lookout on Cincinnati's east side.

Before she was elected in 2009, Quinlivan was the longtime I-Team Reporter at Channel 9.

Do you think privatized parking is a good idea?

Quinlivan says she'd prefer if the city would hold off on outsourcing parking.

Do you support the streetcar project?

Quinlivan says she's a strong supporter of the streetcar and feels that it will transform our city.

What do you think about the condition of our public schools?

Quinlivan says CPS is the best urban school system in Ohio.

She thinks we can create better neighborhood schools but is proud of our Community Learning Centers.

What do you think would make Cincinnati a better place to live?

Quinlivan thinks a series of connected bike and pedestrian trails all over the city would allow people to use their bicycles for recreation and commuting would make Cincinnati a better place to live.

Quinlivan believes the city needs a balanced budget to reach its potential.

Quinlivan says our parks system is very important to the quality of life in the Queen City. She'd like to see more "parklets" like the one on the Ohio side of the Purple People Bridge.

You can learn more about Quinlivan on her campaign website.
