A Shreveport man is in jail for his alleged role in a shooting that left two people injured Saturday night.
Officers were called to a home in the 3600 block of Huston for a reported shooting around 8:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, they found Leon Johnson, 71, suffering from several gunshot wounds to his upper body, police said. A second victim, Yolanda Brown, 43, suffered a cut to her head. According to police, she was assaulted by the suspect.
Both were transported to LSU hospital for treatment.
Investigators later arrested Jessie Ivory, 57, of Shreveport. He was involved in some sort of argument with the victims and it turned physical.
Shreveport Police spokesman Marcus Hines says that Johnson tried to stop a physical assault on Brown. Johnson ordered Ivory out of the home at gunpoint after reportedly firing a shot at him, Hines said.
Ivory returned a short time later armed with a gun and allegedly shot Johnson and hit Brown in the head, Hines said.
Ivory was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Shreveport City Jail. He is charged with attempted second degree murder and aggravated battery.
