Politifact Virginia: Cuccinelli on abortion

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Abortion has been a big topic in the race for governor and Terry McAuliffe, has worked to paint his opponent, Ken Cuccinelli, as having an extreme view on the topic.

This is a claim made in a recent McAuliffe ad: "Cuccinelli wants to make all abortion illegal, even in cases of rape and incest, even to protect a woman's health."

Does Cuccinelli want to make abortion 'illegal' in all cases? According to Politifact Virginia that claim is "mostly false." Reporter Sean Gorman says Cuccinelli is opposed to abortion but even he makes exceptions.

"Cuccinelli specifically said that in one circumstance, when life of the mother is in danger, he would permit it in that case," Gorman said.
