SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A Shreveport firefighter is now on leave following his arrest on felony domestic abuse charge.

The Shreveport Police Department confirms 34-year-old Traotis Robinson is charged with domestic abuse battery with strangulation in connection with an incident early Tuesday morning involving Robinson's estranged wife at a home in the 6700 block of Jefferson Paige road.

Police say she told police he came into her house without her permission and assaulted her, grabbing her around the neck and strangling her. She is expected to survive her injuries.

According to a brief release from SFD, the 7-year-veteran has been placed on paid administrative leave by Chief Ronald Mulford pending an internal investigation into policy violations.
