SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

An 8-year-old girl was struck by a stray bullet while she lay in her bed late Monday night in Shreveport's Caddo Heights neighborhood.

It happened just before midnight in the 2000 block of Murray Street.

The girl was sleeping on the top bunk of her bunk bed when she was struck in the leg. She was taken to LSU Hospital and is expected to be okay.

Police say there are no suspects. So far, there are no indications that the shots were directed at the house, and police say residents have not reported seeing or hearing anything.
