A Shreveport Fire Captain was injured early Monday morning while battling a blaze at a vacant house in the Allendale neighborhood.
Firefighters were called to the house in the 1800 block of St. Paul Street just before 5 a.m., and found heavy smoke and flames coming out of the back of the building.
The flames spread to a home next door, where an elderly man was inside, but but firefighters were able to put it out quickly and he was not injured.
One Fire Captain suffered an ankle injury at the scene while setting up a ventilation fan to remove smoke from the home. She was transported and treated at Willis Knighton North Emergency Room and was released.
The home suffered heavy fire damage and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
