Matthew Monie was found at a home in Ore City, Texas Sunday afternoon. His father is facing charges in his disappearance and is awaiting extradition back to Shreveport.
UPSHUR COUNTY, TX (KSLA) -
A child reported missing last week in west Shreveport has been found safe and sound in east Texas.
Matthew Edwin Monie, 6, was located at a home in Ore City, Texas Sunday afternoon, police said.
Shreveport Police Corporal Marcus Hines says investigators were contacted by Upshur County deputies about the arrest of a man in connection with Monie's disappearance.
The man arrested, identified as Matthew Monie, 45, is the child's father. He was taken into custody with help from the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force. The child is in the custody of child welfare officials.
The elder Monie was charged on an oustanding warrant for interference with the custody of a child. He will soon be extradited back to Shreveport to face charges.
