BOSSIER PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

The 2013 Regional Collegiate Wakeboarding Competition hit Bossier Parish Saturday, and competition was stiff for the participants as well as for the Parish.

This is the first time the regional competition was held at the Cypress Black Bayou in Benton, and park organizers say they are looking to bring the National Collegiate Wakeboarding Competition here next year.

"It's stress free and a lot of fun," says Louisiana Tech Senior Tiffany Shetters.

There are 8 colleges competing, and there are 75 riders.

"It's competitive and friendly at the same time," says ULM Senior Chase Fulco.

Park officials tell KSLA News 12 that events like this one bring in tourism dollars to the local community's economy, and this is just one of the reason they would like to attract the National Competition.

"It will help the whole community out with the restaurants and also the hotels, just the tourism dollars that are spent while these people are here," says Park Director Robert Berry.

There is stiff competition for both the riders and Parish, and they are both hoping for the best.
