ROSSTON, AR (KSLA) -

A community said goodbye to a fallen soldier killed while on duty in Afghanistan last month.

The funeral for Sgt. 1st Class Ricardo Young was held in the Nevada County School gymnasium in Rosston, Arkansas on Saturday.

Family members say he was killed just two months before his tour in Afghanistan was to end.  He joined the military after graduating from high school in 1997.

Hundreds of friends and family paid their respects to Young, including members of the Patriot Guard Riders.  They attend the funerals of soldiers around the country to show their support.  "It is a fine tribute to the fallen soldier.  The community really turned out and showed their respect.  To old, it gets real old.  I will be glad when we don't do this anymore," said Don Nix, Patriot Guard ride Captain.

After the funeral, members of the Patriot Guard Riders led an escort to the cemetary for the final services of the day for Sgt. Young.
