HOOKS, TX (KSLA) -

Bowie County Sheriff James Prince says the death of a woman in Hooks, Texas is considered suspicious, in part because of the small fire that was found burning inside the home where the woman's body was discovered on Monday morning.

Deputies say 37-year-old Sonja Banks was found on the floor of a home on Hobbs Street by her boyfriend. They say he pulled her body outside the home and into the front yard before calling emergency crews.

Prince says the location of the fire raises questions, because there is no obvious reason for a fire to have started there.

Prince says he expects preliminary autopsy results from the coroner by Tuesday afternoon and acknowledged that the investigation could be leaning towards an intentional homicide.

He also confirms that a 911 call was made by Banks' boyfriend, but he would not release the audio to the media pending the outcome of the investigation.

Investigators remained on scene until 11 p.m. Monday night to process evidence found at the location as a potential crime scene, according to Prince.
