PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Phoenix police have arrested a man in the fatal shooting outside an apartment complex Sunday night.

Arron Crook, 25, got into a fight with the victim over statements Crook had made about the victim's girlfriend a few weeks earlier, according to the probable cause statement.

During the argument, Crook pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim.

The victim did not have a weapon and told Crook to put down the gun and "fight like a man," the police report said.

Police said the fight moved from inside the Granite Bay Apartments near 19th Avenue and Thunderbird Road to the sidewalk along 19th Avenue where Crook shot the victim.

Police said a witness was behind the victim, and after the shooting the witness saw Crook get in his car with his girlfriend inside. The witness reported getting in the car with Crook, and said Crook made comments that he could not believe what he had just done.

The witness got out of the car a few miles from the scene and did not talk to Crook again.

Police found the victim on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound. He later died from his injuries.

Police issued a search warrant at Crook's home, and he was arrested Monday at his home in the 4300 block of West Lupine Drive in Glendale.

Crook faces one count of first-degree murder.
