SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Trial is scheduled to start Monday in Caddo Parish for a man accused of kidnapping and attempted murder that happened in 2009.

Christopher Michael Johnson is accused of kidnapping 2 people and shooting Shawanda McClinton 7 times in August of 2009.  She survived that shooting.

After the alleged crimes, Johnson was apprehended by the U.S. Marshal's Task Force at a bus station in Marshall, Texas while trying to escape.

Johnson is charged with aggravated kidnapping and attempted murder.

Police say McClinton, who is Johnson's ex-girlfriend, was kidnapped from a Family Dollar store in Bossier City.  He eventually let her go but days later, police say he kicked open her door and shot her seven times in her pelvic region.  One of the bullets was lodged in her spine.  He was captured three weeks later.

It has been a long process for the family who have endured numerous court setbacks in the last 4 years.

McClinton and her mother, Priscilla, say they have been in and out of court at least 40 times since 2009.  "I know the courts are stacked up, but four years?"  "We just want justice," she said.

"I just want to move on with my life so I don't have to keep living in the past," McClinton said.
