A Shreveport woman accused of identity theft is now in jail in Bossier City.
The Bossier Financial Crimes Task Force arrested Jo Anne Carter, 67, for identity theft in connection with an incident at a store last month.
Investigators say Carter took the wallet out of the victim's purse at the Yellow Ribbon store in the 2800 block of Douglas Drive back on August 19. The victim, who worked at the business, told police that she received a call several minutes later from someone claiming to be with her bank. The caller told her that her account information had been stolen and asked for PIN number to clear up the matter.
Carter was arrested at her home in the 1700 block of Weinstock Street in Shreveport.
She was booked into the Bossier Parish Maximum Security facility. Her bond is set at $40,000.
Carter was charged with 1 additional count of identity theft and 2 additional counts of theft after an investigation linked her to other similar incidents. Bond on those charges has not been set.
