Webster Parish interchange to be dedicated to local soldier killed in Afghanistan

WEBSTER PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

A interstate interchange in Webster Parish will be dedicated next week to a local soldier killed in Afghanistan.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation will host a dedication ceremony on Wednesday, September 11 to recognize the naming of the interchange at I-20 and La. 531 to the "Sergeant Joshua Tomlinson Interchange."

Sgt. Tomlinson was from Dubberly, LA and passed away on May 18, 2010 as a result of a suicide car bombing in Kabul, Afghanistan. Four other soldiers

Tomlinson was promoted to the rank of sergeant following his death.

The memorial interchange will recognize the sacrifice he made for his country as well as the State of Louisiana.

The dedication ceremony will be held at the Community House at 711 Gladney Street in Minden at 1 p.m.

The memorial interchange was initiated by HB 486, which was authored by Representative Gene Reynolds.
