TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The retired East Texas pharmacist arrested following a standoff with police has been released from custody.

According to Smith County judicial records, 73-year-old James Carey Prosperie was released from jail at 11:34 p.m. Thursday on a bond of $100,000.

Prosperie must now submit to weekly testing for controlled substances in his body. He is also ordered to remain at least 500 feet away from the victim or anywhere she may be located at any time. He is not allowed to communicate with the victim or use, possess or consume any alcoholic beverage, illegal drug or narcotic.

Tyler Police arrested Prosperie after a standoff at his home Tuesday morning. Officers went to the residence to serve a warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a child, but Prosperie refused to come out of his house. Police were on scene for around two hours before he complied with officers and was arrested in his front yard.

According to the arrest affidavit, Prosperie sexually assaulted a girl under the age of 17 multiple times during summer break. In a forensic interview, the victim told police he made her participate in sexual acts, beginning a couple of weeks after school let out for summer.
