LSU radio announcer to take leave of absence

Posted: Updated:

Longtime LSU radio analyst Doug Moreau will take a temporary leave of absence from his role on the radio broadcast of Tiger football games because of health matters for which he is dealing.

Moreau, who has worked on the broadcast of LSU football games for 35 years, missed last week's season-opener against TCU and will be absent from the booth for the home-opener on Saturday against UAB.

Gordy Rush, who has served as the sideline reporter for the LSU Sports Radio Network for the past two years, will serve as color analyst alongside Jim Hawthorne until Moreau returns.

Bill Franques, the color analyst for LSU baseball away games and the voice of Alex Box Stadium, will take over as sideline reporter during Moreau's absence.

"I'm hoping to have these health matters resolved very soon," Moreau said. "I hope this is only a temporary arrangement for the radio network. I do appreciate LSU's support and willingness to accommodate me during this time."
