The Centenary women's soccer team earned its first win of the 2013 season with a 1-0 decision at Louisiana College on Thursday evening. The victory moves the Ladies to 1-1 on the year while LC falls to 0-3.
Amanda Atwell provided the difference in the contest. The Fort Worth, Texas, native picked up her first score of the season – unassisted - in the eighth minute of the affair. The shot was one of two on the evening for the sophomore – both on goal.
Erica Coker (1-1) picked up her first, collegiate win serving all 90 minutes in net for the Maroon and White. The freshman brushed away two of the Wildcats' shots on the evening as the Blue and Orange attempted 12 shots.
Madison Alexander, Laurie Priftis and Hannah Jo Wright along with Atwell accounted for all eight of the Ladies shots on the night with five coming on goal. Wright led the way with three total shots while Priftis and Alexander added one each.
Danielle Paulsen (0-2) took the loss in net for the Wildcats allowing the lone partnered with a save. Miranda Williams played the remaining 45 minutes in goal for LC recording three saves.
Centenary returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 8 as the Ladies travel to Marshall, Texas for a 1 p.m. start against Wiley College.
