JACKSONVILLE, TX (KLTV) -

A convicted sex offender has been indicted on four charges involving a hit-and-run and high-speed chase that took place in Jacksonville last April.

29-year-old Christopher Dale Jett, of Jacksonville, hit a vehicle driven by Jacksonville Superintendent Joe Wardell, and drove off. Police spotted his car and chased him all the way around Jacksonville. They put up a roadblock and stopped him, then had to use a whole can of mace to get him out of the car.

He was arrested and is now in the North Texas State Hospital for supervision.

If he is transferred back to jail, he faces four charges including aggravated assault on a peace officer. His bond is $116,000
