BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The addition of Cam Cameron to Les Miles' coaching staff may have been the best "recruit"  the head coach signed for 2013 season.

A look at LSU's quarterback, passing attack and running game against a top 20 team has given Tiger fans a lot to look forward to this year.

The Tigers offense, while still struggling in the Red Zone, put up 37 points and looked to be vastly improved from the nightmare 2012 season.

Saturday LSU visited the Red Zone six times, scoring three touchdowns and settling for three field goals.

Zach Mettenberger was 16-32 for 251 yards and one touchdown. His completion percentage was hurt by several drops by Tiger receivers.

Mettenberger was in control of the offense and never looked rattled against an athletic TCU defense.

Alfred Blue made his first start since a season ending injury last year. Blue had 89 yards on 19 carries and Terrance McGee was quite the complement to Blue, gaining 95 yards on 13 carries, including a 52 yard touchdown run.

Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr. led the Tiger receiving corps. Landry had eight receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown. Beckham Jr. had five catches for 115 yards, but also had a couple of dropped passes. LSU is still searching for a number three receiving target. Kadron Boone and Travin Dural each had one reception.

Now to the stats. LSU ran the ball for 197 yards compared to TCU's 114 yards, Mettenberger threw for 251 yards, while the combo of Casey Pachall and Trevone Boykin threw for 145 yards.

Even more impressive, the Tigers had 26 first downs to TCU's 13 first downs and won the time of possession battle 36:01 to 23:59.

LSU's offense, barring any sudden injuries, looks to be one that can score against any opponent and will help a young defense grow stronger each week.
