Caddo-Shreveport joint narcotics operation nets 23 arrests

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport police say 23 people have been arrested in a joint narcotics operation.

The Caddo-Shreveport Office of Special Investigations Bureau, with assistance from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office Special Response Team, executed two search warrants Thursday in the 1100 block Snow Street resulting in six felony arrests, one misdemeanor arrest and the seizure of approximately 30.4 grams of "crack" cocaine, 2.5 grams of marijuana, $148.00 dollars in cash and the recovery of one stolen vehicle. 

According to police, intelligence gained during a month long investigation revealed the 1100 block of Snow Street was a high crime trafficking location for buyers to purchase illegal narcotics and engage in prostitution. 

Arrested in that part of the operation were:
William Freeman, 52 of Shreveport - possession of schedule II - "crack" cocaine
Lorean Clay, 54 of Shreveport -  possession of schedule II - "crack" cocaine
Frederick Watkins, 41 of Shreveport - possession of schedule II - "crack" cocaine
Mario Turner, 29 of Shreveport - possession of Schedule II WITD - "crack" cocaine and possession of schedule I, 2nd offense - marijuana
Roberto Stanley, 29 of Shreveport - Possession of Schedule II - "crack" cocaine and Possession of Schedule I - Marijuana
Sylvia Ford, 48 of Shreveport - possession of schedule II - "crack" cocaine
Joe Arkansas, 22 of Shreveport - interference with a police officer

According to a joint statement released Friday night, upon completion of subsequent search warrants procured during the investigation, the Caddo-Shreveport Office of Special Investigations Bureau conducted a "Reverse" operation posing as narcotic's dealers and prostitutes in efforts to limit buyers and users from coming and frequenting the problem location, which police say has promoted continuous illegal activity within the area.

The operation proved highly effective, resulting in fifteen felony arrests, two misdemeanor arrests and the seizure of approximately 3.4 grams of "crack" cocaine, .2 grams of marijuana, 1-handgun, and $226.00 dollars in cash.
