Police say a car heading east-bound on the passway for some reason crossed the median into the westbound lanes and struck an oncoming vehicle, causing it to flip.
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
Highway 3132 (Terry Bradshaw Passway) westbound in Shreveport back open after a deadly crossover wreck near Linwood Avenue Thursday afternoon.
It happened just before 4 p.m. Police say 28-year-old Chelsea Ferris of Shreveport was driving a car heading east-bound on the passway and for some reason crossed the median into the westbound lanes. Her 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt rolled and struck an oncoming 1997 Nissan Altima.
Police say the driver of that Altima, identified as 37-year-old Jocelyn Wright on Benton, was thrown from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Ferris was treated on the scene by the Shreveport Fire Department for minor injuries. She was taken to a local hospital, however, where blood samples were taken to be sent to the Louisiana State Police crime lab for toxicological testing.
Ferris was later taken to the Shreveport Police Department and interviewed.
Police say the exact cause of the wreck is still under investigation. Charges are pending the outcome of toxicology results.
