(RNN) – If you're anything like me, you are tired of the Miley Cyrus twerking fiasco at the MTV Music Video Awards.
Well, here I stand - your slayer ready to drive a stake straight through the heart of the blood-sucking beast that is Cyrus' ineptitude for dance.
Many felt like I did watching the VMAs on Sunday - wanting to shed actual tears, watching in awe as this girl killed dance, live performance, teddy bears, foam fingers and Blurred Lines in a matter of seconds.
Everyone felt like Hank and Marie Schrader from Breaking Bad in the brilliant mash-up by YouTube user Sam Barnett.
The good news – twerking is officially dead. I killed it with pride. The bad news – Miley is still cashing those Hannah Montana checks, so she'll be around for a while.
The hits just keep on coming for former NFL tight end and alleged murderer Aaron Hernandez.
In a recent piece by Rolling Stone, Hernandez is detailed as a hardworking, sheltered kid who transformed into a trouble-seeking, pass-catching gangster, devastated by the death of his father. The article says Hernandez was an alleged abuser of the drug angel dust, growing so paranoid that he carried a gun wherever he went. The story also follows Hernandez's history of violent incidents that included fights and gunfire.
The article cites an unnamed source in an incident where Hernandez confided to Patriots coach Bill Belichick that he felt his life was in danger, and that gangsters he befriended "were actually trying to kill him."
On the heels of signing a five-year, $40 million deal in 2012, Rolling Stone says Hernandez was surrounded by unfavorable characters and warned by Belichick that another misstep or incident of bad behavior would cause him to be kicked off the team.
Hernandez is currently in jail, charged with the first-degree murder of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.
Marshall Mathers is back – tell your friends.
In an ode to old school hip-hop, Mathers released Berserk on Tuesday, the first single from The Marshall Mathers LP 2. The track features samples from Billy Squier's The Stroke and the classic "kick it!" from The Beastie Boy's anthem (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party).
By all accounts, Slim Shady is leaving everyone in the wake of his snappy, intelligent lyrics. This time around he disses troubled reality TV couple Khloe Kardashian-Odom and Lamar Odom.
The album's release date of Nov. 5 comes more than 13 years after the heralded first installment was released in 2000, which included a glimpse into the mind of Marshall Mathers with hits like Stan, The Way I Am, and The Real Slim Shady.
WARNING: The following video contains explicit language.
Jam of the week: Eminem, Berserk (CONTAINS EXPLICIT LANGUAGE) – Many aren't fans of rap, especially in its current state of insufferable lyrics and untalented MCs. The recently released track by Eminem may save hip-hop before the year's end.
No surprise – the Civil Rights-era film Lee Daniels' The Butler was No. 1 for the second straight week, stifling the debuts of The World's End and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.
Here is last weekend's top five, according to Box Office Mojo (listed next to previous week's ranking and weekend gross):
New in theaters: Aug. 30

Closed Circuit: Lives are in jeopardy when ex-lovers (Eric Bana, Rebecca Hall) are paired on the same defense team of a high-profile terrorism suspect accused in the biggest attack in British history. Unknown to the attorneys – the British Secret Service may be behind the attack. The thriller is from the producers of Tinker, Tailor Soldier Spy and also stars Julia Stiles.
Getaway: The wife of a former racecar driver (Ethan Hawke) has been taken by a mysterious kidnapper (Jon Voight). To find her, he needs the help of the owner of the custom Mustang he hijacked (Selena Gomez).
Selfies: the unfiltered - well sometimes filtered – proof that being self-absorbed is cool as long as you have Instagram programmed on your phone.
