The burn ban for Bossier Parish has been lifted, at least for now.
BOSSIER PARISH, LA (KSLA) -
One month after it was ordered due to lack of rain, high temperatures and dry conditions, the burn ban has been lifted in Bossier Parish.
The order was lifted by Friday afternoon, a cold front headed into the ArkLaTex, bringing soaking rains with it.
While the ban on outdoor burning has been lifted, citizens are asked ensure safety measures are in place before any burning takes place.
Please be aware that there are some materials that are against the law to burn. An example of these materials is plastics and rubber. For further information on what you can and cannot burn, Bossier Parish Director of Public Safety Sammy Halphen says you can refer to the Department of Environmental Quality website.
Halphen also says the conditions that brought about the burn ban could exist again within a few weeks without significant rainfall. The fire districts will continue to monitor the situation to determine if a future ban is needed.
Note: The City of Bossier does not allow any burning without a permit.
