SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

The Caddo Parish School Board is talking about the next step in finding a new superintendent this afternoon.

Classes started for the new school year last week with Caddo Parish School's Chief of Staff Mary Nash Robinson in place as interim superintendent, after the school board came to a impasse in a series of votes that split between the two finalist candidates, Robinson and John Dilworth.

On Monday, Dilworth confirmed he will not be reapplying for the position.

On August 6, the CPSB voted to re-start the search and set a goal of having a superintendent in place within 90 days.

The board has already spent $30,000 on an outside agency to conduct the search that concluded the first week of August with no superintendent selection. The company has said they could do the search over again at no additional cost, although the Caddo Parish School Board would still have to pay for advertising expenses in connection with a new search.

The school board is also considering whether to go back to the list of all the qualified candidates gathered by McPherson and Jacobson and do the eliminations themselves, and whether to cast a broader net.

All options appear to be on the table, however, including not reopening the search after all.

Some board members have expressed frustration with the lack of local applicants, and are discussing what can be done to attract higher quality applicants.
