LAFAYETTE, LA (KSLA) -

The woman shot during the bank hostage situation in north Louisiana has died.

That's according to KALB-TV in Alexandria, which is reporting that a hospital spokesperson confirmed the death Thursday morning.

Ledean McDaniel was shot on Tuesday at the Tensas State Bank branch in St. Joseph by 21-year-old Fuaed Abdo Ahmed, at the end of a 12-hour standoff with police.

Another bank employee, Jay Warbington, was shot and killed by Ahmed that night before police moved in and killed the gunman.

A third hostage, bank employee Patricia White, was released unharmed a few hours before the standoff came to an end.

Authorities say Ahmed was angry and believed his ex-girlfriend's family had been responsible for their breakup and for putting a device in his head.
