Country joins in fight against baby's name change

(WMC-TV) - People from across the company are sharing opinions on whether a Tennessee mother should be forced to change her child's name following an order from a judge.

Jaleesa Martin does not agree with Judge Lu Ann Ballew, who ordered that she change her 7-month-old son's name from "Messiah" to "Martin".

The judge says that "Messiah" is a title, rather than a name, and that it is in the best interest of the child to change it.

The American Civil Liberties Union is now joining the fight and coming to the aid of the family.

The head of ACLU in Tennessee says the judge's faith should remain private.

The little boy's parents are appealing the judge's decision and will be back in court on September 17.
