CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

Caddo Parish Sheriff's deputies have a man in custody after an elderly woman was stabbed at her home in Caddo Parish.

Deputies say around 5 a.m. 73-year-old Janie Beaird was allegedly stabbed with a steak knife by her uncle, 82-year-old Freddie Guy, who was living with her in her home on Dunn Street just off Flournoy Lucas Road. Guy then called 911 after allegedly stabbing his niece.

The two had been living together for the past three years. Investigators say the stabbing was the result of years of domestic squabbles and tension.

Beaird was taken to LSU Medical Center. As off 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning Beaird was out of surgery and listed in serious but stable condition. She is in the hospital's surgical intensive care unit.

Guy was taken to Caddo Correctional Center where he is expected to be booked for attempted second-degree murder.
