The New Orleans Saints continue to look for help at the wide receiver position after the loss of Joe Morgan to a torn ACL injury.
The team announced Monday the signing of veteran wide receiver Patrick Crayton.
Crayton has played eight seasons in the NFL, six for the Dallas Cowboys and two for the San Diego Chargers.
In 2007, Crayton had his best year with the Cowboys catching 50 passes and scoring seven touchdowns.
In his eight years in the NFL, Crayton has totaled 247 receptions for 3,650 yards and 25 touchdowns.
Crayton played under Payton in Dallas and that one was reason the coach brought him in for a look at wide receiver. "He is a person that I am familiar with and a guy that we feel can help us and give us a chance to evaluate," Payton said.
With the signing of Crayton the team waived receiver Brent Leonard.
