SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Caddo Parish's newly appointed interim Superintendent Mary Nash Robinson speaks to a congregation of people at a back to school prayer service. Robinson says students will focus on many books throughout the year but sometimes they need to refer to The Bible, which she calls "her book," "the book says, ' seek ye first the kingdom, and all of these other things will be added unto you.'"

The crowd participated in prayer for the upcoming school year and for the students to have a safe and successful year, and with over 40-thousand students filling the halls of 73 Caddo Parish schools starting on Monday, Robinson says she can hardly hold in her excitement, "it's uncontainable type of excitement. This is a servant type position and I'm honored to be able to serve the districts, students, parents, and families in this capacity."

Robinson was appointed interim superintendent after the Caddo Parish School Board could not agree on a permanent person for the position. The board was split between Robinson and candidate John Dilworth. They both received 6 votes from board members.

Robinson says she will serve the position to the best of her ability for the next three months and then hand the position to a permanent  superintendent, "I'll go back to my position as chief of staff and support the superintendent of their choice."
